Dear Church,

This week our church office sent out this Google form asking if you would consider serving at our church on our summer roster. There are both practical and theological reasons for asking you! Practically, there are so many different aspects of our life together that requires a small army of people to make it all happen. Everything from welcoming people as they arrive, to cleaning the church, serving morning tea or supper, reading the Bible, AV desk, and serving in our kids and youth ministry. If you are keen to get involved, would you please fill in the form and indicate your preferences? I will do my best to provide full training and encouragement.

There are theological reasons for serving one another too. Namely, we have been created to serve, uniquely gifted to serve and remarkably, Jesus himself did not come to be served, but to serve! And we seek to follow his example. As members of Christ’s body, everyone is needed, and everyone is wanted.

Having said that, if you have been serving and need a rest – there are seasons when we need to be served by others – that’s OK too!

While there are some roles that suit some personalities more than others and some roles which have additional requirements such as WWCC and Safe Ministry clearance, there really is a role for everyone at St John’s. Please let us know if you can help and I trust you will be filled with joy as you serve your church family and the wider community.

God bless,
Matt
